Tackla expp pants

Anyone try the tackla expp series pants; expp55 or expp44? They look fairly diffrent from most pants, in that they look to have a very low waist. It looks like it might be comfortable, but provide somewhat less protection, but it's hard to tell just from the photographs.

It's not a low waist, they just don't have the kidney padding that the traditional models have.
