Stick flex rating consistency

Recommended Posts

It seems from my limited experience that an 85 flex, for example, in one brand of stick isn't necessarily the same as an 85 in another brand. Are there any guidelines, like are ccm sticks, for example, known to be more or less stiff for a given labeled flex as compared to other makes? Also, does the flex of a stick vary even among the same brand and model of stick? I guess that's a quality control issue.

Sticks will vary from stick to stick, even the same brand and model. According to someone that has tested a significant number of sticks, Easton is the most consistent.

I'd hope that the flex of composite sticks is more consistent between sticks of the same model than wood sticks would be.

I think an earlier poster is correct about each manufacturer measuring flex differently though :(

Actually the source claimed that brand new wood sticks are actually pretty consistent.
