NHL women's jerseys crest printing

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

I have a really weird question about NHL shop stock. The women's jerseys they have there seem to be the fashion type (silkscreened/printed crest, much much smaller than it should be)... but I know there are women's jerseys with a proper embroidered crest (identical to the men's jerseys) - I own one! But I can't seem to find them online ANYWHERE.

Anybody have any ideas about this? Any info would be awesome. Also just for my own clarification: does 'twill' mean silkscreened or embroidered logo? (I don't actually know what twill is lol) - alternatively, what is the official name for the material used in the embroidered logos?

Example: Crosby jersey says "team logo screen-printed"

http://shop.nhl.com/product/index.jsp?prod...dy_bestsell_img

Vancouver jersey says "printed twill crest" <- and from looking at this you can tell the logo is completely out of proportion

http://shop.nhl.com/product/index.jsp?prod...remier&sr=1

thanks! :D

You can silkscreen or sublimate a piece of twill...but generally speaking (and I will be corrected if I am wrong, this is MSH after all *L*)...When a jersey is described as having "twill" letters/numbers/logos they are embroidered. The other treatments are new enough that they are pretty specific.

True! Except what confuses me is that that Vancouver jersey says 'PRINTED' twill crest - apparently not embroidered? And the proportions on that jersey are all wrong lol - I've seen the jersey that has those proportions in person and the crest is definitely not embroidered lol!

A "printed" twill crest may be one layer of twill with all the graphics printed onto it, including fake stitching, etc, and then that whole piece is stitched onto the jersey. Full embroidered logos would have one layer of twill for every color used in the logo, overlapping and stitched together.

The full embroidered logo is "higher" quality, although even some NHL teams are turning to printed twill to reduce weight.

Women look better in the real deal than "women's" fitted " jerseys.... pleh

I agree, but I DROWN in the men's S, so I'm going for a women's XL. That way it's more than baggy enough to still look like a jersey but I don't completely disappear :P

DCott: Thanks for the help, that really cleared things up! So I guess printed twill is still a proper embroidered logo then.

One last question: has anyone ever bought a customized jersey from the NHL store? Do the player name/numbers come on a stitched-on nameplate or are they screen-printed?

Authentic - embroidered on twill, twill sewn on jersey, shoulder patches embroidered, sewn on

Replica - embroidered on twill but heat-pressed on jersey, shoulder patches sublimated on twill, heat-pressed on jersey

The names/numbers on the replicas are printed on twill, then pressed on jersey.

some of you are right but if you guys didnt know theres 3 types of jerseys

Replicas-which are the cheapest one you could get which are all screen printed

Primier authentic replicas-which every thing is embroider and if you ask for numbers sewn on it could be done but of course you pay extra for that

authentic-which are the ones with the fight strap and embroider crest and patches and of course name and number

I would just go for a youth premier jersey. The sleeves are a bit shorter compared to a women's jersey but the quality is better, even compared to the men's premier jersey. I'm not 100% sure if this applies to all team's jerseys but on Canuck jerseys all the lettering and front crest are stitched on the youth ones compared to pressed on the men's.
