oh so theres 2 versions, the 4.0 and the 4.0PRO, that must be it then, im guessing i tried the regulars because they felt soft...

The 4.0 were $349 at my LHS in Laurel, I don't believe they had the pro

I thought the 4.0 Pro is a Europe/custom order skate only.

According to my rep, the Pro version is available (enough retailers complained, I guess) in NA. I ordered a few pairs so we shall see, I suppose.

I've been skating in my Flexlite 10's (in cowlings) for two years now, and they're only a little softer; I'm 220.

Does this mean you've converted normal ice skates to goal skates? sorry for the dumb question....

so i just got a pair of the Flexlite 4.0 last week and used them for the 1st time on Sunday. My quick impressions were that they were very lite yet plenty stiff. I don't have the widest foot and the boot still fit quite nicely. The only real diff i could tell between my S9's and the Flexlites was there seemed to bee a little more room in the toe cap area.

I also have the S9, and the Flexlites. I hated my S9. No matter how much I tried, my feet killed in the S9. The Flexlites had much more padding overall, and i do agree that there is more room in the toe cap. They were a much more comfortable skate for me. I've tried to work through pain/discomfort with 3 different pairs of skates in the past year, and the Flexlites have been the bet so far. I wish there was a way to figure out how a skate will feel on ice vs. just walking around with it in the store. They all felt good in the store, but the real test was on ice, and that's where the problems began. So far, my first skate in the Flexlites last night was, great and i couldn't be happier.

In a word, yes.

I could not find a goalie boot that fit, and I was starting to run into horrific ankle problems with my old all-leather custom skates. It was a royal pain in the ass, but in the end, well-worth it.

(PMs clear. Sorry about that - was up at the cottage.)
