Stick Help

Recommended Posts

Hey

I live in the UK and travel to USA once maybe twice a year. When i go i need to buy sticks for the year. Last year i bought easton S17s and SE's. I love these sticks but i seemed to have the same problems with the blades on the sticks spliting down the middle. I went through 6 sticks in a year (which is a lot for me). This is really annoying because i never snap shafts but the blades always tend to go soft and split on me. Does anyone else have this problem? and does anyone know of a stick that has a well made blade that does not split down the middle and go soft?

thanks

Well, this wont answer your question but i bought a couple of sherwood wood sicks recently (spezza and a crosby). One of them has started to split -so ster clear of them.

Tape helps avoid it for a while though

I find that most blades split around the blade. I put a few strips of tape on the bottom of the blade before i tape the stick, a long piece of tape that goes around the toe then a medium sized piece of tape that's a few inches before the toe. i think the trick is to switch sticks every period or once you start noticing the tape on the bottom ripping up.

You really do not need tape for roller a strip or 2 length wise on the front and back of the balde is fine. If you are playing on sport court you shouldn't have to much of a problem with blades spliting. Personally I like a 2 piece better only for that exact reason. You get a bad batch of sticks which the Op may have you have just laid out a bunch of dough. You buy a bunch of blades not so expensive. I like the R8 from TPS although it will be hard for you to find in most stores IW does have them though. I just picked up a 2 piece one 95 only because I needed something ASAP. I really do not like it and am waiting for IW to get closer to having the R8 in stock.

As far as durable blades go I've never had an issue with Warrior. Like you I usually break blades however every Warrior stick I've had has snapped in the shaft before the blade went. Might wanna take a look at the Dolomites and MacDaddys

As mentioned briefly, if you're having blade problems, experiment with a shaft-blade combo. The evidence that an ops is that much better than a tapered two piece is mostly anecdotal. I'm not saying they are the exact same, or one is 100% better than the other, but if durability is an issue, hedge you bets.

The splitting of the blades has been a common easton Problem for me. Whether is was the SL's or the SE's, they've always split on the blade. I've since had a one90, Vapor XXXX and one95 and experience absolutely no cracks or breaks in the blade whatsoever.
