How to stay on top of "closeouts"

Recommended Posts

Not sure how to word what I want to say but, here it goes:

I am curious as to how the general public (rec league/pick-up, etc) hockey players can keep on top of new releases and such, and therefore maybe take advantage of old model pricing. In may case, I have everything I need, but am always looking for a good deal on OPS. My LHS has treated me nothing but great, in fact one worker spent almost 2 hours fitting and trying on different skates, which I ended up getting XXIX (retail version of the XXXX? correct me if I'm wrong). Here is my dilemma - I recently bought from the same place, a Inno MegaLyte OPS, which actually was a little more whippy than I figured ($79CDN). Not sure, but I was told this was a rebranded stick I think. What I am looking for is a decent mid-high level OPS, but I will not spend the $190 + - can't afford it. My LHS actually has One90 on for $149CDN...... I was hoping to find something like the Inno I had or maybe can hold out if I can anticipate some good closeouts coming down the line.

Any suggestions, advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sign up for online stores' newsletters..I get emails everyday throughout the day on closeouts..most of it lately is Jr sticks, and apparel and Mission/NBH gear..but they still throw out some good deals every now and again. I got some Eagle gloves a couple months ago for $80

Does shipping on sticks for example kill any savings? I have always supported my LHS, just wish there was a way to know of coming closeouts/clearance ahead of time. Everytime I ask to answer is we never know ahead of time. Oh well, I'll keep checking the deal thread and keep popping in when I get a chance to my store here.

IniNew - maybe it is the XXX then.......

The retail version of the XXX, is also the XXX.

A lot of places offer free shipping after a certain amount. Even if you don't opt for the free shipping, most places are reasonable, with the exception of Hockey Monkey.
