Shaft length help needed

Recommended Posts

I have a question regarding the length of shafts compared to the dolomite 2piece shaft. My dolomite recently broke and Im about to order a replacement but Im wondering about flex. Shaft length makes a difference for me, since I tend to put a 2-3 inch plug into the butt end to make the sticks long enough for me.

I have seen conflicting reports on shop websites so any help comparing the Reebok 8k shaft and Easton SE16 with a Dolomite shaft (or a standard sized one piece stick) is appreciated. The Dolo with a dolo blade is exactly as long as my one90 one piece if that helps as a referrence. Thanks!

You might want to have a specific length of the shaft posted, as everyone's stick might be slightly different.

As I said, the referrrence point would be a one90 one piece stick at standard length (Im sorry I dont know how long it is in inches) or a dolomite 2 piece setup at standard length, uncut and no extensions put in (dolo and one90 are the same length for me).

Its just a problem of flex. I think my perfect flex is around 85-90. With a 100 dolo shaft and a 3 inch extension Im pretty much there. If the SE16 at 100 flex is as long as the dolo WITH extension put in Im screwed since it will be a bit too stiff for my taste.

I live in europe, so trying it out in shops doesnt work for me since nobody is carrying those sticks and shafts around here. It is all price point.

According to Ice Warehouse, the SE16 is 55" long and the 8K is 56" long. The Dolomite shaft that I had was 53" long uncut. So you could get the 8K in an 85 and not have to put a plug in it, or put a short plug in the SE16 to get it to the length of your liking. One thing to keep in mind is the Dolomite blades have a slightly longer hozel than most other blades. The Dolomite blades that I've seen are about 1" longer than any other tapered blade I've used. Just something to keep in mind if you use a different blade.

thank you, yes that could be a reason why the dolo shaft is a little shorter which might equate to the same length when put together. I am planning to use dolo blades since thats what I have at home.

you gotta cut like 2 inches on the se16 to get the stated flex so watch out for that, unless they changed it
