Flexes With Wood Blades

Recommended Posts

I have a S15 100flex that im going to be putting custom blades in. And right now i use a Synergy ST OPS 100Flex that is about right for me but i might be able to drop down to 95.

Im curious if i should be using a lower flex with the wood blades to get more whip?

Also wondering if they make tapered wood blades and if there is added benefits to this because i can still get this changed on my customs being done?

Because im thinking of getting a lower flex with a tapered shaft because the s15 is standard.

Switching to a tapered shaft/blade combo is not going to make your stick and whippier. It will lower the flex point of the stick to be closer to the bottom so it will add a little velocity to your shot. The S15 hase a taper to it as well but it flairs out at the end to allow for the standard blade (the bubble part of z-bubble). The flex of the stick is mostly personal preference but has some size bearing to it. How tall and heavy are you?

Im 6'0 180, ive been using a 100flex since i was probably 13 and im 25 now. I even used a 105 in my later teens but i think i could go down to a 85 and not break it.

Just looking for some opinions because don't want to spend the money on it and have to get rid of it.

So if i could change the blades to tapered should I? like would it be something i would notice or with wood it wouldn't matter?

A tapered shaft will feel like it has more flex at a given number than a standard stick. The lower the flex point, the harder it is to load the stick though. The Z-bubble/S15 is is about as good as you will find from that perspective in a standard shaft.

As for moving to a tapered shaft, it will perform better 90% of the time. The other ten percent of the time you are using the wrong flex.
