If you're looking to get shoulder pads...

Recommended Posts

I want to share my impression of newly purchased Easton Synergy 555 shoulders. I upgraded from Itech 195 (flimsy!) which I was using in noncontact league until I separated my shoulder and broke collarbone. My criteria were added shoulder/collarbone padding while remaining light, mobile, and (optional) low profile.

I didn't see this particular model in the Easton catalogue - it looks mostly like the ST6, but has the 2-piece bicep guards of the ST16 which make it more mobile.

It was quite light and mobile (I play center). I had tried on the ST16 which was noticeably heavier (and twice the $).

I felt reassured with the plastic insert over the shoulder. The 2-piece bicep guard was a bonus that never hindered mobility.

The spine and back padding curved well anatomically without leaving gaps.

I didn't get to feel any impact during first couple of games to comment. All in all, am quite satisfied and fell confident while playing.

Hope this helps.

Those are nice. Where did you get them from? What's the chest padding like on them? I have a pair of ST4's from last year that I like a lot, but I wish the padding on the chest was a little thicker. The ST16's are like tanks with the plastic inserts, I think you could get shot with a bullet and not feel it.

I got them at Just Hockey in Toronto. The front chest pad is not that thick, but has a plastic insert. The other thing I really like about these pads is they move with you and don't feel like they shift out of position.

they look quite similar to the new st6, only with extended bicep protection.
