Heat Pressed nameplates and numbers?

Sorry if this is in the wrong area, but i have a Jersey that i want to get the nameplate removed from and have a new one put on along with some new numbers. They were originally heat pressed onto the jersey. Is there any way to do this ? or will the glue leave a residue and dis coloring on the jersey

My suggestion is to get a name stiched onto material and place it on top of the current ironed on name.
