TUUK Custom plus & TUUK LS 2 holders

Recommended Posts

this is a simple thread. I can't find a thread that was on here speaking of the differences between these two. If someone has the thread - please post the link and if a MOD reads this...LOCK the thread :-)

I'm sure my question has been answered already but here it is:

I've upgraded from an easton pair of skates from 1998, lol, to a pair of pro - return nike bauer's ( ONE95 ). Obviously these are some of the best skates out at the moment. They're in fairly good condition but I found a cleaner looking pair that I may go ahead and pick up on eBay.

The ones I have now have the TUUK Lightspeed 2 holder. The ones im looking at on ebay are custom made with the TUUK CUSTOM PLUS.

All that I'm requesting is education. What are the major differences I will realize between the TUUK CUSTOM PLUS holders & the TUUK LIGHT SPEED 2 holders.

Some of the threads that are on here, with the exclusion of the one I'm looking for, barely go into technical detail on these two.

Again, if there is a thread comparing the two that has info that'll educate me, POST the link and lock the thread... No flames needed B)

-if not...your knowledge could be useful to me :)

I've skated on both and have custom + on my current skates. Lightspeed 2's put the boot a little higher off the ice, Which is supposed to allow for tighter turns. Lightspeed 2's are theoretically a little lighter since the plastic is removed above the blade (see the holes). Custom + is the number one blade/holder in the NHL and will be a little more durable than the LS2 holder. As far as what is better for you? You'll have to decide. Good luck.

This was the type of answer I was looking for. Thanks for your input.

I haven't skated on both. All I know... Coming off of real cheap old holder to the TUUK light speed 2 holder was a tremendous upgrade. Took a little bit of getting used to but I loved it.

LS2s lose most of their weight in comparison to TC/C+s because the LS2s have on the back bolt, whereas the C/C+s have two sets of nuts, bolts, and hooks on the end of the steel.

C/C+s are some of the most flexible holders on the market. The LS2 is a much more rigid holder. Heavier skater might prefer the LS2s because of this.

Another difference although not exactly pertinent to your question is that the hole patterns (rivet patterns) are different between the C/C+ and LS2s.

C/C+s put you extremely far on your heels, more so than any unmodded pair of towers. I've found the LS2s are a bit more neutral.

LS2.1s have steel that is 3mm longer too, but I suppose that doesn't exactly pertain to this discussion.
