Reebok 9K pump skate problem

Recommended Posts

Over the last few games, I've noticed a tenderness in my heel later on.

After my game last night when I took off my skate I noticed my heel was really hurting.

I ran my finger along the inside of the lining right across my heel and noticed that there is a crease that has formed there where the inside liner has loosened itself and now has made a flap that is really hurting my heel. Its like having a lace right across the tip of your heel in your skate.

I got my skates last October.

Anyone hear of this, any ideas on how to fix it - if it can be fixed?

Definitely not comfortable to have the crease in there on the heel pocket fabric. I have heard of it happening before though (not just to the 9k).

The easiest and, in my opinion, best solution is to buy some Dr. Schols Mole Skin and take it and cut it to about 2 x 3 inches, maybe smaller depending on the size of your foot mine is a 11.5. Then take out your skate insole, then prior to peeling the sticker off of the mole skin put it in there and try to see where you are going to place it. Its best to have about half an inch of the mole skin go under your insole to help make it continuous and have the insole help hold it in place. Then when you have the location figured out peel it off and put it in there. Then take a hairdryer and hold it near the mole skin for about 30 seconds to help the glue stick to the skate lining a bit more. Don't over do it cuz then it makes it less sticky.

It should fix the problem. The only reason why it may not work is if the lining fold is really thick in which case the mole skin may not do much. If thats the case you can try two layers of mole skin or try to patch up the fold first then put the mole skin over that. Two layers of the skin isn't a big deal, I have 2 layers in one of my skates bc I was getting blisters on that one skate and the mole skin got worn down so I just put another layer in. And the first few times you put on the skates make sure to loosen up the laces well so that your heel going in doesn't peel off the corners of the mole skin.

Let me know how it turns out. Hope it helps!!!

Thanks - I'll be doing some mole skin work tomorrow.

I'm going to make a run thru the LHS where I got them and ask them to see about replacement although I think my warranty is up?

Appreciate to comments, will let you know how it works out.

Hope they warranty it. If not, let us know how the mole skin works!
