Tour Carbon Pro Skate Tongue

Recommended Posts

I have a set of Tour Carbon Pro's that I picked up from ILW. They are great skates, other than the fact that the tongue continually falls to the side of my foot during rec games. I have never had a pair of skates have this problem before, so I'm just curious if anyone has ever tried to fix this problem. And if so, what you did. Had suggestions to sew a loop like a shoe tongue has onto them, and then loop my laces through it to keep the tongue in place. But I'm not sure that would hold. Thoughts? Thanks guys!

This problem is pretty common on the Code Carbons as well. Best bet is to replace the tongue completely with some felt tongues. I could never find a good solution to this problem other than that. I tried lacing the top different ways, undoing the top eyelet, etc. Nothing really worked well.

+1, I ended up switching mine out.

I guess I have no clue how to replace the tongue with a felt one. Any suggestions on where to find these? Thanks for your help, Ill do anything at this point. Sick of having to pull the tongue back into place every time I come off the floor!

There are a few threads about swapping out tongues in the Ice section. Basically you can try to do it yourself by cutting the old tongue and stitching the felt tongue to whatever you leave of the old tongue. Or you could take them to a shoe repair place/cobbler and have them do it for you, which is probably a better option.

EastWest Hockey sells replacement tongues but they're a bit steep. You can take tongues off of old skates if you have them. Or you could buy a used pair cheap for the tongues.

Just an update on these. I went to this little shoe repair shop around the corner from where I work and asked him about his suggestions. Granted, he couldn't sell me a better tongue, but he did set a couple of double think nylon loops onto the stock tongue's, like a normal shoe tongue would have, and it holds in place perfect now. And it cost me $8.00 to do both of them. So much more affordable than a transplant.
