Shaving Helmet Foam

So my team is sponsored by Easton and we all have to wear Easton Stealth S9 helmets....and no one likes them. Mine is personally way to narrow and it gets to the point that I'm getting severe headaches after 10 minutes of wearing it. I'm coming from a Medium Rbk 8k and now have the Medium Easton Stealth S9. The only solution seems to be to shave down the foam on the underside. Yes I know this will make the helmet more dangerous and all that, but what are some methods for doing this? I tried sand paper and a different wood sander and it didnt do anything to the foam. Thanks for your replies
