Conversion Question

Recommended Posts

I got a pair of 705's that have a few seasons on them but are still in good shape. They were bugging my foot because of the arch so i went with a pair of RBK's that fit my feet way better. Ive changed the footbed where the 705's still feel really good but were perfect for ice so i made the change.

Instead of selling the 705's would it be a better option to just do the conversion to roller (just for street hockey and recreational) or should i just buy a pair of roller RBK's and sell these.

If you are going to play for fun, maybe you could sell these and pick up a cheaper pair of inline skates... dunno how you would fit in the other brands but if its for street hockey you could go that route...

how much would you expect for the 705? not that i'm interested, but if its for cheap then I would just keep them and buy a pair of cheap inlines (already comes with the chassis, wheels, bearings etc) so you dont have to buy a chassis to get it mounted, then worry abotu the wheels and bearings.

Yeah im not sure, 100-150 i would think?

I have looked at parts for the conversion which i would try to get everything on sale, except im not sure about the price for labour?

The other thing is i will only be using if for outdoors, and what i have noticed about new skates is most come with indoor wheels so i would have to buy a separate set of outdoors. I guess i could sell the indoors though.

you'd be lucky if you could get that amount back on the skates.

What parts do you want for conversion? vanguards run about $60 at RRP, unless you get the Mags which are a bit pricier (got one for sale if you interesetd ;) ) ... sprungs are on special at $79, or if you want something simple you could go with the Kuzak on HG for less than $10.

Wheels, you can get them for as cheap as $1 each, I've got a source if you are intersted so let me know (US based site).

Labour to convert, I think its anywhere from $20 - $60 depending on who and where you are doing it. I would suggest maybe doing it yourself by using tnuts and bolts? I did a few conversions myself and its not that difficult to do. With the tnuts you can swap out your ice or inline chassis anytime you want.

If you're just going for outdoors, why dont just get a pair of the previous year's skates? They still do pretty well... and once the indoor wheels wear out, you can swap them for the cheap ones that you can get at buck a piece

send a pm if you prefer to take this offline...

Yeah i think i might wait to find a good deal on some RBK's this winter sometime. Yeah that would really help also if you could hook up some wheels for cheap. Ill have to keep my eye out for some deals, thanks for the response.
