Easton S7 or other shin guard

Recommended Posts

I currently have the Reebok 5K shin guards. I find them comfortable, but they are bulky. I am looking at the Easton S7. How are these shin guards? I wear a tensor brace on my knee and am wondering if the knee lock will be too restrictive. If not the Easton S7 any recommendations?

With any kind of knee brace a wider shin pad is usually preferable however take your brace and try it on with the S-7's at a local hockey shop or for that matter any shin pad in the Easton line. The basic mould is roughly the same for all models. I can't see a tensor brace being a major problem with most slimmer shin pads but again personal fit preference comes into play. Other slimmer shin pads you may want to look at are the Bauer Supreme 95 or 75, Vapor XXXX or XXV and the Warrior line of shin pads which all have a relatively slim fit as opposed to RBK or Mission shin pads.

I personally love easton shins. Great fit, and even the lowest end ones are decently protective with the way they build them - the 'sling tec', where they keep your leg away from the plastic taking the impact, really works. I've had a bottom end pair (synergy 300) and use a top end pair(ST 16), and have been quite satisfied with both.

But the fit is quite tight and narrow, I really doubt that you'll be able to get a brace in there without heating them and remolding them some.
