Heel Lock

Recommended Posts

Okay,

So im shopping for new skates and im coming from CCM vector v6, I put superfeet insoles in them to get my heel locked down, but they reduced the volume of the boot over my arch causing foot pain.

Ive been trying on about everything i can get my hands on locally, and i think one of my problems is that im right on the borderline betwen a 10.5 and an 11 (i wear a size 13 shoe). A 10.5 is a little too short, the 11 seems pretty good, if i push my foot forward i can get a finger back there.

Skates ive tried:

Graf g35 (Forefoot felt good, back of heel was tight enough that it caused pain and pressure)

Graf g5 (So far the best feeling, seem to tigthen well, but slightly worried about heel lock, i can force my heel off the insole (kinda using it like a lever, i dont know if this is good or not. And im not sure aobut ankle support

Graf 705, fit the same as above, possibly a little bit better in the heel, except the toe area is tight. Its an older pair that some store has, and they dont have the sidas insoles any more the LHS guy is of course telling me the shockdoctor insoles hes throwing in are soo much better, its also lined with the kinda suade material.

Bauer x40/x50. Both of these seem to hurt my arch, like press into them, and they dont feel like they wrap my feet as well as the grafs (this should improve with a fitting.

Right now im tempted to go with the G5, it seems like they are well bilt (except the ones the store has has a slight defect inside the boot which im going to have to put some tape on.

I dont have money to buy 50 pairs of skates, so i want to buy the right pair.

What you think, is there anythign else I should try? Im limited by my size and what the local dealers carry (most of them seem to ahve a few lower bottom end skaktes.

was the 10.5 baked before you tried them on so you can get a more accurate view of how they'd fit? ive tried on skates in my current size without being baked and they felt too small lengthwise (width is a whole different story). Once i had them baked, they fit perfectly with length (big toe just tapping the front.

Its more than just a grazing (its more like i can feel the front thats including the side of the toe cap (You really cant punch that out)

If i bentover it got somewhat better, but not enough. In the 11, if i pull the insole out, my toes seem to go to the end.

Here is a picture of my foot on a graf size 11 footbed.

i was having the same problem. my feet are wide, high arch but still kinda flat. i looked up alot of different skates and found the CCM U+ fit really well. the u foam is amazing! get them baked and after two games they fit cherry! good luck. oh stay away from the rocket runner blade. its light but can only be sharpened around 10 times.

oh and look at the E,EE
