RBE 8 vs FM480

Took a yearlong hockey hiatus but now I'm back on the ice and want to post and read about hockey gear!

So I currently rock a chromed-out CCM FM480 cage on my NBH 4500 helmet.

I was thinking of switching to the Bauer RBE 8 with i2, but am concerned with alignment issues, as I've tried this combo previously with mixed results (I think I had to use old school L clips, but it's been a while).

Just curious if anyone has made this switch and their thoughts on RBE 8 vs FM480, and also if you have this setup (the RBE seems a bit heavier than the FM480), did you also have alignment issues or maybe mine was just a weird defect. I've seen this combo a few times in college hockey and from the pics I've seen, it seems like a standard alignment, so I'm all sorts of dazed and confused as to why mine was FUBARd.

Just use the 480, it's still pretty much the best cage out there. There's no real reason you would need to switch.

I agree. Just wish they made the 480 with i2. I've heard of people making their own i2 by simply spraypainting the inside white.

They at least used to have a white version. I guess I don't really care, I don't ever really notice the color.

They still do, althought it's more of a grey color than it is white. I used an Oakley visor/cage combo but recently switched over both helmets to the 'white' 480 cage. I went to totalhockey.net since they're not far away and I wanted them quick to try out. So far, so good. I have them on Mission Intakes and they fit perfectly.
