Do I want "D" or "EE" width?

Recommended Posts

I am about to pull the trigger on a pair of Mission Commanders but I can't decide if I should get 11D or 11EE.

A couple years back I bought a pair of Mission Lieutenants size 12D and while they ended up being to big (long) for me, the part of the skate where the toecap turns into the boot killed my feet...I can't remember the exact pain I felt...I just know it was on the "knuckle" area of either my big or little toes. I think it rubbed really hard and I wasn't able to handle the pain even after a couple minutes of skating.

I am currently skating on size 11D Tour Cobalt 9.9s and they fit me perfectly...but I've read that Tour generally fits wider than Mission.

I've been trying to do my own research to figure this out because I don't have any to try on at a local store. Does the difference in D and EE even affect toe area of the skate that I was having trouble with, or does it only affect the heel area? Maybe I just can't fit into Mission's without punching the toe area?

I don't know if it means anything, but I wear a regular size 12 shoe.

Mission skates fits narrower than other brands . I've been skating on Mission Soldiers 6 months ago, and still remember that pain in the wider area of my feet. I've tryed Tour skates a couple of times when i was looking for another skates, and I can tell you they fit wider than Mission.

Now i'm skating on Nikebauers XXVR and feel comfortable since the first day i've tryed them.

If I was you, I would go with the EE or look for another brand.

Unless Mission has changed it's toecap design, the EE's are not significantly wider than D's at the place where you describe your discomfort. I have the same issues with Mission skates as well.

so... why are you buying mission if your tours fit perfectly. imo mission roller skates are terrible anyways

whoops spelt tours wrong

The Tours durability left a lot to be desired...I'm replacing them after a year and a half and I didn't use them that heavily.

Also, I don't like the Humm'r. I had a Vanguard mounted on these Tours and I don't want to pay for that service again on a new Tour Boot.

IMO, the Missions durability left a lot to be desired too..................

If you like the vanguard chassis why don't you better take a look at the new Bauer line??? I'm not talking about the expensive Vapor RX60, just the Vapor RX25 skates

SIGNIFICANT BETTER FIT THAN MISSION +VANGUARD CHASSIS and you'll be saving $200 and avoiding headaches

I'm pretty much in the same exact position right now.... had a pair of 9.9s where the quality issue was a problem... ended up with lacebite and other premature breakdown problems so I'm going to give Mission a shot since I hear nothing but good things about them, especially the 2009 line. About to get the Commanders, they seem like the best skate you can get for the money right now. I wear size 12 shoe and tried on a pair of 11D and 11Es and there might of been a slight difference... they do fit tighter than Tours but I like a tight fit as my foot is more on the thinner side.

The guy saying Mission quality is crap also mentioned that he had a pair of Soldiers in a previous post... if his basing his opinion on Missions from a lower model, I don't think thats a very good comparison if we're talking about the Commanders. A solid and aggressive player would tear the Soliders apart, I tried a pair on and the boot feels a lot more "fluffy" so I would imagine some aggressive playing would break it down quickly. Commanders seem like a top of the line skate and some of the guys on my team who are using the 08/09 Missions seem to have a very consistant opinion so far and given my experience with a semi-high end Tour skate I don't see a reason to not go with a high end Misison skate.
