Ice all over my tape!

Recommended Posts

Grocery store - by the jello, canning wax also know as paraffin wax, will cost you like $2.50. And you'll get about 3 times as much as you would pay for hockey/surfing wax.

I did exactly that but, I like the sex wax alot better.

I've been waxing my stick for a few years now. It keeps the snow off the blade and adds 'feel' to the stick. It also adds traction, which helps with the 'Lacrosse' tricks.

One question: What does 'heating' the wax do?

it melts into the tape giving you waxed tape instead of wax on top of your tape, it: stays on longer, works more effectively, and allows you to add a second coat.

It seems to me that Sex Wax is great if you want to add tackiness, that is if you want to be trying the lacross move or something like that. But, if you're really looking at preserving your tape or blade, pariffin wax is a much more effective barrier to water. One block will also last you years.

Most of the waxes on the market are either parafin, microcrystaline or a combination. But there is much more to it than that. If you are looking strictly to keep the snow off the blade, straight parafin probably works, but if you want more feel and control, you'll definately want to go beyond that and purchase a product made for hockey. In short a product that is both 'soft' and 'tacky'.

picked up some Bladetape today and Im pleasently surprised. Seems very grippy and it really eliminates the snow buildup. It is also not too expensive, but the final verdict on its value needs to be determined by its durability. If it lasts a month it is a great deal. I noticed little difference in my passing or shooting, maybe a bit better control stickhandling the puck.

But the first impression is very positive. I will pick up another set for my second stick (both one95s).

Paraffin wax leaves the tape very slick. I don't know if I've tried it melted in, but just rubbed on it's very slippery. I'll try one stick waxed with Zoggs and the other paraffin melted in and report back.

if you want an alternative to wax , when Gretzky played , he would apply baby powder on his black tape to keep the stick dry and free from ice , but you have to apply it before every game .. I do it ,its cheap and smells good ,

He used friction tape though, not standard cloth tape.
