Graf 705 or G5

Recommended Posts

In the near future I would like to upgrade my Graf skates. I am skating in a 605 now. However, what would people recommend the 705 or the G5? I've heard that the 705s last forever and that the G5 is more of a performance skate and has durability issues. Your thoughts/comments would be appreciated

ok i'll try here..

well i think everybody has there own opinion and views on grafs durability. for one my g3's have lasted me for over a year now and i skate typically 5 days a week. and used to skate everyday on them when i worked at a rink. so i believe there durability isnt an issue. but i have seen many people on here say the boot has fallen apart on them. i mean there isnt much of a difference in the skate really except for what its made of.

well thats my crappy two cents

I've also heard the 705's durability is superior to the G-5's. The 705 will be a sightly heavier skate however because the G-5 is Grafs answer to the lighter skates of its major competittion. I've looked at the G-5 in passing and find the boot is much slimmer on the walls as opposed to the 705, ( obviously Graf trying to shed weight off the skate ) and the inside liner is a grey weaved type of material similar to what Easton is using in the S-11. It tends to be very rough on the feet if you like to go in bare feet in your skates until the skates are worn in. It's your call. What are you looking for? If you like lightness then go fo the G-5. If you don't mind a slightly heavier skate that will last you a long time get the 705.
