One95 OPS vs One95 shaft/blade

Recommended Posts

How does a One95 OPS compare to a One95 shaft/blade combo? Is a One95 a true OPS stick or a fused 2 piece?

The combo has a couple of advantages in being cheaper initially (~$160 vs ~$210 at my LHS), and also being able to replace the blade which for me seems to fail first in my OPS's that I've used.

Being a B/C level adult player I wonder if I would notice a big difference between the two.

This has been covered before:

ONE95 OPS vs 2 pc.

I have 6 One95's. Three are shafts/blades and the remainder of them are OPS.

The sticks themselves are magnificent. OPS or shafts? you can't go wrong with it. The OPS has the kick point just a tad lower than the two piece but that doesn't really hurt your shot.

They're both very LIGHT. The 2 piece feels blade heavier to me than the OPS but we're talking GRAMS here. It's not noticeable when you're skating on the ice with all your gear on.

Yes, the advantage of going with a two piece is that they're cheap. I believe hockeymonkey right now has a deal where you can pick up 3 or 4 NBH shafts for 309 dollars, not including blades. That's a killer deal. You'll be saving money and you're allowed to swap out your blade when it breaks. But, to me, I can feel the puck better on my blade when using the OPS. Again, keep in mind there is no real dramatic difference between the two.

Both are GREAT sticks.

Also, you must know? I've been using these NBH ONE95's ( both shafts and OPS ) for about a good 6-7 months now. The blades are still in tact and well, knock on wood, all the sticks are still in one piece. I haven't had to swap out any blades either for my 2 piece. I play 5 days a week, pick up hockey + stick/puck time and I take really heavy shots. The NBH sticks have not been used 24/7 as I have a couple SE16's I like to alternate in but they HAVE been put through a bunch of play time with tons of slashes, hard shots, one timers, you name it.

Again, You cannot go wrong with either of them. Hope this helps you but there are more ppl with more comments in that LINK I just posted for you.

Thanks for the info and the link to the other topic. I'll read through that one but from you've said it seems I can't really go wrong with the shaft/blade combo.

Unless you've used both and can tell the very slight different in feel between the OPS and 2-piece, the shaft is a better deal. Most people can't feel the shooting difference between the feel of shooting with the tapered OPS, so my vote goes for the shaft.
