Shin Pad Recommendation

The only piece of equipment I have not changed over the last 15 years are my Jofa shins. I fold the top piece of material in so it won't get caught up in my girdle. My last game, I got up ended and came down weird where I somehow landed on the ice with the top of my knee (above the knee cap and below the girdle). The result was a very painful bruise.

Can anyone out there in MSH land recommend a pair of shins that may help me or do you guys think this was just a freak injury.

Well, it certainly sounds like a freak injury based on what your saying. Sometimes that happens. I took a shot off the lower part of my shin right where the shin pad and tendon guard meet on the side. It hurt like hell, but I dont' think a different pair of pads would have prevented it. Sometimes you just have to chalk it up to bad luck...it happens. However, 15yrs is a long time...maybe it's time to reward yourself with some new ones! ;)

I use RBK/Jofa shins and cut that top part right off so they don't hang up on my pants. That said, I also wear pants that have the pads coming down and barely onto the kneecap area so there's no gap in the protection area.

Sounds freakish to me, but Totalhockey.com has a bunch of shins on sale, including the XXX and the Pro Defenders.

Since shins are relatively inexpensive anyway, I'd just pop for a new pair.
