Labeda Gripper X-SOFT

Recommended Posts

Anybody tried these on non-plastic surface?

I'm looking for a good indoor wheel for a plastified wood surface. Rink Rat and Revision have good grip but start spliting and chunking prematurely on this floor. The only wheel that seems to outlast witout breaking on this floor are the colored ones (not clear). I know the grippers soft and medium works fine on this floor but I weigh 155 pounds.

Medium (yellow) Grippers would be your best bet. Good grip and great wear!

Finally, bought the soft ones (white). I've been skating for a month and I'm more than happy with them

By far, the best wheels i've ever tried (compared to hyper formula G, Kuzak havoc, Rinkrat hotshot and others)

Best grip than any other wheel.

Maybe next time i'll give a try to the yellow ones. Do you think I will have this kind of grip whit them?

I just went from Rink Rat Hornets to Yellow Labeda grippers - big difference in grip.

The labedas add about 1 meter of stopping time (yes, 1 meter!) for me when im stopping at full speed. I cant accelerate as quickly on the Labedas because my feet start slipping away from me.

Hornets are one of the best wheels going IMO - i've tried Labeda Grippers, Mr. Stickies, Bullseye wheels etc - nothing comes close.

I did have a chunking problem with the Rink Rat wheels though, but these were replaced by Rink Rat as they said my old Hornet design had problems - just using the new set now - so far so good.

For wood floors you should never use the Yellow grippers as the outer wheels (i.e. first and last), not enough grip.

I know from a bunch of friends that they either use all white grippers or a mix (1+4 = yellow , 2+3 = white) on wood floors.

They used to use rinkrat hotshots aswell but they chunck like crazy.

What kind of surface do you play on?

Revisions and Rinkrat are maybe the best for sport court kind of surfaces, but for any other indoor surface, my experience says the grippers have the same or better grip without the chunking problems.

Normally a sport court (varnished, clean finish etc)

We play wood sometimes, varnished wood that really wants to be a sport court (not raw wood at all). Still think the Rink Rats are much better on that -

The problem you have with coated wood surfaces is that they are rarely the same. Wooden floors are coated with epoxy's or urethane coatings which allow you to use a little harder wheel while maintaining grip. If the the surface isnt maintained and rerolled regularly you will have many different types of wheels working as the floors are all different, You usually want to avoid xsoft wheels as they work against the surface coating on the wood causing wheels to chunk and tear prematurely.
