epstud74 24 Report post Posted May 27, 2010 I dont think the 709s are as wide in the heel as the CCM's I guess you'd just have to try them on. Often times it is a lot of trial and error.
skyscrape 5 Report post Posted May 27, 2010 Right side, pretty good, can lift inside foot and stop on one. Left side needs serious work. :lol:I would be willing to bet that the 6xx series would be stiff enough.
joeyisfunny 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 I would be willing to bet that the 6xx series would be stiff enough.Just out of curiosity, why do you say that? Just because its a mid-high end skate? Or do you have experience with them?
skyscrape 5 Report post Posted May 29, 2010 I am going off the fact that these are still a million times better than what I grew up on. If they fit, they fit! It is not like they flop over when you take them out of your bag. Unless you are heavier or taller than the average hockey player in the size you have posted I would be willing to bet you will like the skate. I had a pair of 703's when I was 13 loved them! They were a size 10. Stiffer than I needed and I was 6'0 215 lbs at the time. Graf makes good quality skates. Why are you so worried about stiffness anyway? jsykes 35 Report post Posted May 29, 2010 Where are you referring to your feet being "deep?" The depth talked about in skates is from the back of the heel to the apex of the foot/ankle. If your foot is deep over the arch, that is a different thing and different boots fit differently there. For instance, my Supremes give me more depth over the arch and forefoot than the G70 does. The reason the G70 has a pronounced heel is that is what causes that distance from the heel to the apex of the ankle to be deep. Someone that does not have such a pronounced heel does not need that much distance over that measurement and therefore the G70 may not work for them. You need to figure out where you need depth and go from there. I saw photos of you foot in another thread and you do not have a pronounced heel. I suspect you may have issues with a x70 skate.
epstud74 24 Report post Posted May 29, 2010 I have a high arch with a high instep and the Flexlite 4.0 fails the pencil test miserably. The Graf G70 ultra has more depth along the foot and instep than any Flexlite out there, but everyone's foot is different and I've seen people fail a pencil test in the Grafs only to pass in the Eastons. Im not that worried about stiffness, I just want a skate with good support. Im not a big guy so Im sure the 600 series will work great.Where are you referring to your feet being "deep?" My heel is fairly straight, but for whatever reason I seem to need alot of depth at the instep right over the front of the ankle. The supreme's lace bite bar creases from lace pressure when I crouch down and "bites" into my tendons. So I seem to have a high instep (I just barely pass the pencil test over the ankle)... The Graf G70 has a deep instep, so I figure thats my best bet. But Im waiting till my LHS gets them in stock to just try them and the G5 on as that has the straight backstay but only medium depth. Ill just try them on and post what the conclusion is. I might as well try some eastons on while Im there as well as the flexlite.

Good luck.Well, this shop doesnt carry anything but the G line.. so I cant try them on... Ill try the G's and find the boot that fits right then order the 600 series boot in the same line. Best I can do. Also, Ive asked this like 15 times with no response... Which supreme skate compares to the stiffness of the 600 series Grafs? Ive been assuming something like a One55? epstud74 24 Report post Posted May 30, 2010 I've skated in the One55s and I think it would be a fair assessment. The G70 is not as stiff as a Vapor X60 or Supreme One95, but not many skates are.

epstud74 24 Report post Posted May 31, 2010 Joey, from what you've stated in previous posts. You most likely do not need a stiff skate. The 570,670 etc if they do indeed fit, should be more than stiff enough for your needs.. I'm 230lbs and have no problems with the stiffness of a Graf skate
