flyweightphantom 1 Report post Posted January 9, 2010 I was wondering if some of you skate fitting experts can help answer a question for me? When fitting a skate for it's "length" (assuming D width is correct already), what should be looked for a proper fit? What I mean is before baking should all the toes be touching the toe cap or just the big toe? When you foward flex the skates should the toes still be touching? I keep getting 2 different answers from my LHS's when i'm trying on skates. One store telling me go with a half size smaller than the other so i'm confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Assuming you have everything fitting properly and just concerned about the length, you need to find something that is most comfortable to you. Some people like a smaller skate (Paul Coffee) and some like to have just a bit of extra room.Generally, if you're in a skate that is the proper length for your foot, you should be able to slightly brush the toe cap with your toes but once you get into your athletic stance, your foot is pushed back into the heel so that there should be about 1mm of space between your toes and the toe cap. Also note that each skate manufacturer is a bit different in their sizing so being a size 8 in Bauer doesn't necessarily mean you're an 8 in other brands. Length is important, but all the other factors are just as, if not even more important in finding a proper fitting skate.
