Skate Help Please!

Recommended Posts

I ordered a custom pair of Bauer Vapor 40's w/Custom Tongues. The tongues are like the ones on the one95 and both my feet are two different sizes. (which is why I custom the skates)

I did not like the lacebite holder so I ended up buying a pair of graflike tongues off of eastwesthockey and these tongues are wider than my skate and thick so I skated in them after they were put in and they felt horrible. What happened on my left skate was once I switched tongues I now have a BONE SPUR! It hurts now when I skate and sucks!

I took them back to the shoe guy and he cut more of the felt from inside to make it smooth like it once was. So I have been getting used to them. Recently my bone spur just kills off and on and I was wondering what I can do?

I already punched out the back to free up space for the spur and should I switch back to my old tongues? Hope you guys understand what I am saying!

Thanks,

James

James - I fit you for the skate.

Adding a different thickness tongue will make the skate fit differently.

If your bone spur is bad, if you do another pair, Steve will have to take that into consideration.

Ohh nice what's up JR, yea I did another pair but with X60's and I am waiting on those. We did trace around my spur but I'm not sure if it got bigger or not. Here are the tongues I switched to http://eastwesthockey.net/basuclwhfeto.html

Steve told me its going to take a while on the skates, but when I get the 60's with the spur taken into consideration I will feel fine skating right?

Sorry JR I don't know if you saw my reply, but in the meantime anyone else?

I also have vapor 40 size 8D (original tongues) that I can put in. (the customs are 7 1/4" and 7 3/4")

So its switch to vapor 40 original tongues or to the custom ones that came with the skate?

Thanks,

James

Okay, did you have any problems with the original tongue?

Looking at your spec sheet, you had a white felt tongue with a lacebite guard put in. Did you have any initial problems with that tongue?

It was fine except I did not like the lacebite holder especially on my right foot, the left foot was fine. I think it has something to do with my right foots formation. I just felt like I did not have flexion like I did with the original 40 tongues.

There were so many things that could've been done - you could've cut out the lacebite guard, you could've heated and creased the lacebite guard...buying trim to fit tongues wasn't the best idea.

Wow I wish I would have asked you, I did take it out and tried bending it lol That didn't work too well. But if I switch those original tongues in and heat the lacebite gaurds will that be fine?

You should've - Steve would've given you my number.

That would be the first step. Ironically enough I was looking at my 95s today and they totally formed to the top of my feet.

haha nice, yea next time I'll do that. So where should I heat them? Like a skate bake oven?

I'm not sure what's up with my feet but I've had to bake my skate over 3 times. (probably not to effective) \

Thanks again.
