Beefing Up Ankle area

Whats the best thing to do to add protection to the ankle area, I took a slap shot a week ago, stayed off of it till today, and reaggravated. I need suggestions by friday =P next game.

I tried using ankle wraps and pre wraps, it just feels uncomfortable.

My tongues and shin pads cover my ankle so IDK. Is your ankle still sore when you put your skates on? If they are try taping foam to your ankle. It took the pressure of mine when I had injured while playing football.

I took a slapshot off the top inside of my ankle, right on the top area of the bone, second week of the season. Once i took my skate off after that game, swelled up like a balloon. And after a week, it was still shooting pain in the area, and couldn't skate without the pain.

I had read before about the bungapads for this, as it wasn't the first time it had happened to me. In the past, i'd tape up the spot with a little foam circle/donut to protect the area.

This time I ordered the Bunga malleolar sleeve with the gel pad for the area:

I had one skate before next game and knew it would do the trick. I've worn it ever since, as the area (3 months later) is still sensitive without it.

I haven't taken a shot off the padded area since, so i can't really say that it adds protection from future similar incidents. But i would imagine the gel pad would have some dispersal effect of impact.
