sher-awesomeness 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2010 Last night I was pressuring a puck carrier and when he made a pass, it flew straight up into my throat near the top of the sternum. I sat out for a good 15 minutes icing it down and it still hurts today, so I'd prefer to err on the side of caution and look for some decent neck protection that can protect against pucks as well as cuts. I've searched and the threads I found were from 2-3 years ago. I'm wondering if there have been any recent neck guards that are protective enough and aren't as uncomfortable as they sound.I've looked at the Maltese Hockey protector, but I'd like to find a good retail option I can get soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
puckhoggy 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2010 when i was at a LHS and checked out the newer style Bauer neck guards, I found they fit comfortably, but i just didn't like the height of the neck guard too much. I wanted something more low-profile which I have now since I found one in a locker room lol I WASHED IT alright.I had a CCM neck guard that was VERY comfortable. check into these ones.-----Ive been wearing a neck guard cine I started playing and have not even considered taking it off. I have seen a situation where a forechecker chased the puck carrier around the net and the puck carrier slipped and got him in the throat. nothing to severe, but he was bleeding and left (had no neck gard). and ive also had pucks hit me in the neck area as well. luckily i ws wearing a neck guard.
