Bauer XXXX vs Lightspeed Pro

Which of the two is less bulky? I've never had experience with either and a friend is asking because he's coming off a separated shoulder (he wore 5030s) and wants something protective and more mobile. Any feedback is appreciated!

I personally think the xxxx's feel less bulky, they're nice and light as well.

The both of them are more protective, but mobility will be decreased IMO.

I've never tried on the lightspeeds, but did try on XXXX's and they were light and mobile. Other pads to consider would be:

• RBK 10K or 8K (current models)
  
• CCM V10, V08
  
• Farrell
  
• Warrior Hustler (or if he can wait the new Warrior Projekt pads coming out in a couple months)
  

I've tried on the 10Ks and 8Ks and they were both light and mobile (although the shoulder caps aren't very low profile). Other people on the board have written some good things about the CCM pads (I haven't had a chance to try those on myself). I've been using the Farrells since last summer and have been very pleased with the mobility and pleasantly surprised by the shoulder protection - I've taken a couple hard hits and spills into the boards and they protected very well. Now, you do give up some abdomen and collarbone protection with the Farrells, but it's hard to find a more mobile pad that offers decent protection. The XXXX's are certainly a good option. As usual, the best thing to do would be to go to a LHS that carries most of these models, try them on, and go with the ones that fit you best.
