CCM U+ 09 Pro/Pro Reloaded Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi all, long time lurker new member.

Couple questions, I tried on some CCM U+ Pros and they feel perfect.

First, is there a difference between the Pro and Pro Reloaded? I've tried searching the forums and some people have hinted there is a difference but CCM's site only has Pro Reloaded.

Second, I've looked at nearly all threads about them but I wanted to see if there are any new thoughts as to the durability of these skates?

Third, does anyone know if the free stick offer is still valid? If so, do you think they would honor it even if I get an employee discount at the store?

Fourth, will there be a new replacement skate in the line coming out soon? If so I'd probably want to wait for it if it's out in a month or two.

Finally, given my high instep, the only skates that would seem to be right for my foot and these and Graf G70s. Both pass the pencil test perfectly, are there any other skates I might want to look at before making my decision? The Graf is very appealing but given the fact I was able to heat mold the CCMs while trying them on, with the discount they'll be about $200 less, and free sharpenings have me leaning strongly towards them.

I'm concerned about the possibility of these dropping in price a month or two after I get them, if the stick offer being valid despite my employee discount is possible then I will take them and run.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Make sure you get arch support if you have a high instep. Grab some Superfeet if you can.

Both the Graf and CCM skate you mentioned are great for people with high insteps. I went with the Grafs due to how well they fit me and the heat moldable insole included in the sale price. The black skate was a plus for me as well.

I think the CCM U+ Pro Reloaded is a bit more durable and the previous models had some issues with the quarters. I'm sure others can chime in.

You can't even compare the U+ Pro's to the U+ Pro Reloaded. CCM made a drastic change for the better on the exterior of the boot. The Suryln quarter panels are extremely durable, it's the stuff golf ball covers are made of. The Reloaded's have better reacting foam on the interior and a felt tongue. My son is pretty hard on skates and his Reloaded's are holding up better than expected.

Thanks for the replies!

I think maybe when I said U+ Pros that maybe that references the 08 model?

The store I tried them on at and IceWarehouse simply refer to their $549.99 model as the U+ Pro, while Hockey Monkey lists the Pro Reloaded at $549.99.

All these Pro models of the same skate are really confusing...

Anyone else have any info on my other questions?

Picked them up today, weird that the only place that it says Reloaded is a sticker on the box. Nevertheless, pretty excited to try them out, might have to bake them once more but the heel locks perfectly, just a little cramped up front.

Also went with the Superfeet, and even just standing with them in I can feel a huge difference, before it was hard to keep a good balance but now they are completely solid. $30 for insoles is crazy but I'd rather have them than not.

Hope the transition to the E-Pro is smooth coming off a lifetime of TUUK customs...
