Pant shells over pants or buy a girdle?

I have a quick question for those out there who have some experience or know something about shell fitting when it comes to putting the shell over a pair of pants versus wearing the shell over a girdle. I do not own a girdle so when I wear my custom shells I have to put them over my pants and I know shells are made to do this but they really don't fit that well. Will my shells fit better if I purchase a girdle? I feel that a girdle form-fits to the legs and the waist giving room for the shell to fit unlike the more loose fit that pants have which makes the shell fit awkwardly....any feedback on this? I know an easy response would be to get a bigger shell but I already have these custom shells so I am just looking into whether its worth it to get a girdle so that the shells will fit better....

So you didn't buy the right size shells to fit over your pants? Obviously they will fit "better" over shells that provide less padding.
