Sprained Ankle Help

Recommended Posts

Hey so I play college roller hockey and we have regionals coming up this weekend. But, I sprained my ankle a week and a half ago. The pain was mostly on the side of my ankle but now it has moved to the top of my ankle. I skated in practice last night was an ace bandage on and during practice I could definitely feel some burning and some pain. I iced it when I got back to my room and woke up this morning to it hurting quite a bit. It hurts even when I walk which didn't happen before. So my question is, is there like a brace I should get? Or should I keep with the ace bandage? Or is there a good way to tie my skates to take the pain off this area? Or just any other advice for me?? O and idk if this matters but I skate on Mission Soldier SE's and I know Mission has more of an aggressive style boot which I think would put more pressure on this area if I'm not mistaken

1) Go see a Doctor but if you can't, don't play through severe pain. I've torn an ankle ligament before and was stupid enough to not listen to the Doctor's advice, so it never healed quite right.

I have seen a doctor and taken xrays. It is not severe pain but it does hurt a bit and honestly I am almost positive it is not a torn ligament for the pain just started in this one spot. I'm thinking maybe it hurts because it's weak because I haven't really been using it as of late. Is that possible?

I had a right ankle sprain this past summer and it worsened as I tried to play on it. It got to the point where I couldnt walk on it for a few days whatsoever. If the pain is getting worse definitely elevate and ice it as much as possible. If you must play, I'd stay off it any time you aren't skating.

your problem will go on and on unless you take the time and let it heal the right way.for one ,go to a doctor so he can tell you what grade the sprain is.second use RICE. REST ICE COMPRESION ELEVATION. and get some anti-inflammatory pills. If its not that bad you might be skating in 10 to 15days.I know it sucks,I go thru it alot .my right ankle will never be 100%,I go for accupunture to help speed things up.good luck
