Skates getting deeper?

I've read some comments about some model skates being deeper than in the past, like Vapors, and in just looking at a site with several year old leftfover stock for sale, it sure looks like most all skates have gotten deeper. Anyone know if this is so, and if so, why? Personally, I like a shallower skate.

I believe with the moldability now a deeper boot fits more foot types. I know that was the case with the one95
