My buddy called up to the AHL

One of my best friends Adam Russo was called up to the Houston Aeros on a PTO this weekend. He is a phenomenal goalie and hopefully, he'll get the opportunity to shine this weekend.

I just wanted to share the news because I am pretty excited for him and I thought you guys might find it interesting too.

Great story: paying his dues in Italy and France and then coming back to give it a shot over here.

Just tell him to relax and take it all in -- whether he's facing a 2-on-1 in the final seconds or watching from the bench.

Thats pretty awesome. Not to jack the thread or anything, but one of my good friends plays for Union in the NCAA. They had a clip on ESPN because last night they went to a 5th overtime in the 2nd of a best of three series. Unfortunatly, he's the goalie and let up a short side goal for the winner. =/ Longest game of NCAA history.

Sort of related. But I'm in a Vancouver restaurant after the gold medal game and Danny Heatley is having dinner and drinks with friends with his gold medal around his neck. So, I go up to one of his friends and ask him if he is, in fact, a friend of Healtey's. His reply is yes and that they have been friends since school. So I say, "how cool is it that your buddy is Danny Heatley?" and he responds. "It's pretty cool". It's neat to know that friends of successful players still get a kick out of the fact that their friends are "in the show" instead of getting all jaded and such on account of it would be so cool.
