Shins for under tongue

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for shins that offer good protection, but can fit under the tongue of my skates. I'm currently in RBK 6K and love the comfort and protection, but the suspension style shin guard forces me to wear them over the tongue, which I don't love. Any suggestions for alternatives?

Yeah for those with their tongues out, how tall are you and what size shin guards are you using?

My friend just told me his 14" RBK 6K are still too long to stick out the tongues on his Vapor x:50 skates. He's about 6 feet tall too.

I have some Supreme One95 on its way and wanted to get a new pair of shin guards to have the tongues out. I currently have 15" and I'm 5'10".

Do people use Junior 13" Shin guards? I know Bauer makes a few Senior 13" Shin guards. But I'm not a fan of the Bauer shins.

Ives used 13" eastons before I had a 2007 RBK 4k and i had trouble even getting those in so im in the market as well RBK offers unreal protection but they feel super bulky to me im thinking of getting the sherwood old school shins. Im actually going to the shop today to look for some I was also going to get a ONE85 stick but now I learn from this board they have lead and are a health risk what a day eh?

I'm 6'3" and wear 16" shins-- tongue out on Vapor XXXX's. I wear an older pair of Easton Air as I find the newer ones taper too much as I like the shin to sit on the folded tongue and not go underneath it between the tongue and my leg.

Anybody try Bauer Pro Defender? They look pretty heavily tapered. What about anything from D&R? It's hard to tell from pictures I'm seeing, but my OLD pads are D&R and I like their comfortable, not-overkilled design.

I use the pro defenders, they work fine for going tongues out mainly because they taper so much towards the end. Very protective as well... in the front that is...
