RBK 9K pump

Recommended Posts

I am getting a pair of Reebok 9K pumps and have found some great prices. I can get the 2009 model for as low as $329.00 but have also found the 2007 model for as low as $199.00. Were there any big changes made to the skate from 2007 until 2009? 199 sounds like a price that I can't pass up. Any overall thoughts on the skates themsleves would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I wear a 6D in a CCM U+ 09, I am assuming that the sizing will be the same in the reebok boot?

I just ordered a pair of 2009 9k's for $329. You really cant beat that price. I'm not sure what the difference between the two are in terms of function but I think the 2009's look better than the 2007's.

2007 - the logo was only half integrated into the design, looks sloppy and kinda like an asian knockoff.

2009 - much cleaner design, looks more "though out". Notice that the 2009 version has a carbon fiber'ish heel. Prob offers better protection all around.

I found the 09 skates to be lighter but the 07 skates overall were better in my opinon. looks aren't everything, the liner is better the tongue is better and the ouside is more durable. The 07 model lasted me 2 seasons where the 09 lasted me half a season before the tendon guard ripped and the liner started to wear away, plus i hated that form fit tongue. i may be a one off case. i have the 11k's now and they are awesome.

The '07 RBK is definitely more durable than the '09 RBK. I have used them during of three seasons, but I have couple of buddies with '09, those looking ugly in comparison to my '07. IMO

Rather than start a new thread I though I'd just bump this one.

Anyways, I bought a pair of 8k inline skates and I have never worn RBK before, my question is how many pumps of the heel thing should I be doing? I try to pump until my heel feels locked in but I'm worried I might be pumping them too much. Is there a problem with over pumping them? Will they pop or wear out? How many pumps do you guys do?

The skates fit perfect length wise as well as width and when I inflate the pump the heel feels good too. So I'm just worried about the longevity of the pumps

you suppose to pump until you feel some resistence in the pump.

in my case i stop 1 pump before the resistence start.

about 10-15 pumps is the general recommendation or less if your comfortable with less. I do about 10-12 then a few more after warm-ups and the laces have settled in. Just make sure to never pump them prior to/during/24 hours after the baking process other than that you shouldn't have any problems with them
