One95 fit versus older supremes

Recommended Posts

I am in the market for a new skate, hopefully the last I need to buy. I have a question on the sizing of the One95s. I have worn the same size skate from Bauer for 20 years. two pairs of comps and now 5000s. I bought the 5000s versus 7s because i wanted a quicker break in time but they are now broken down. Unfortunately there is no LHS that has the One95s or any high end skates in stock so the "best fit" option is not available. I am just looking to get the comparable size to my current skates. I was all set to order and heard from some guys that one95s run bigger than other models, of course I have no idea how that compares to my oldies. Any help is appreciated.

The Vapor line of skates should fit like traditional Supreme skates. The current line of Supreme ONExx skates fit differently than the older Supreme.

I have worn the current Vapor line skates (X:xx) and they fit the same as my old Supreme 5000, same length. The older generation of Vapors fit half size smaller. Current generation of Supreme ONExx fit the same in length.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. I was more concerned about the length as I like the length fit of my 5000s. The fact that they are the same length alleviates much of my concern. The width could be a little wider on my 5000s as they broke down on the top of my mid-foot, where the tongue had the most exposure. So I think I am going to bite the bullet and try the One95s.

Hey, similar question here. I currently have supreme 60 skates from about 3-4 years back:

and I'm looking to upgrade to one75 on sale/closeout but no LHS around me has any in my size. I've found some on the internet but am concerned about sizing. My supreme 60 are 7.5 D, so would the one75 7.5 D be the same fit?

Having played hockey for 30+ I have never had this much anxiety when buying skates. Given the changes in sizes from model to model and year to year it seems the answer in most posts is your LHS. So the guy at my LHS said that the One75 should be about the same size as the older supremes, and the One95 would run larger. Of course they don't have either model nor does any store within 200 miles. I also could not find any One75 in my hopefully correct size online which led me to the One95s and the original post. As luck would have it shortly after stating I was going for the One95s I randomly found an online store with one pair of One75s and it happened to be in my size, and at the best price I have seen. So ordered same size as my 5000s. They arrive on Tuesday and I will let you know how they compare when I get them, if you can wait that long. And, of course, that doesn't exactly compare to yours but would show some level of consistent sizing.

The Supreme 60 fit the same as the older Supreme 8090 line, towards the old 5000/7000/8000 line. The Supreme xx line fits differently than the Supreme ONExx line. You'll find a hair more length in the ONExx line.

For some reason Bauer made the Vapor line before the X:xx half a size smaller for a more "snug" fit. Got rid of it when people got sick of trying to figure it out.

The current Supreme ONExxx line fits less than a quarter size bigger than the current Vapor X:xx line. My roommate has the ONE95 in 8.5D and his Vapor X:60 8.5D fit a snug smaller, his toes just curled compared to flat on his ONE95. All ONExx skates fit the same length. I would stay away from the ONE90 skate, great idea, wrong fit for most feet.

Got the One75s, had them baked and skated on them twice. The fit is different, they seem slightly longer than my old 5000s and they are wider. I don't know if I would go smaller but is definitely a different feel. I was expecting the difference in stiffness to be a concern but it isn't an issue. I imagine I will get used to the higher toe, wider boot, and slight length difference, it just feels like my toes aren't a part of the skate, and my heal isn't quite as locked in as I was expecting,if that makes sense. Any suggestions on tightening up the fit would be appreciated, like superfeet or any other ideas that have worked.

Putting a underfoot support will generally take away some volume out of the skate, but it won't 100% solve the heel lift. Did you try on the skate before purchasing or did you order them online?

I have skated some more and the heal isn't an issue but the extra toe room is, what would suggestions be for an underfoot support. Thanks for any help.

Also, I bought them online, but not because I wanted to. There were no supremes within 200 miles. I would have paid the bump to be able to try them on but they were not available. I could have waited and a store 2 hours away was going to eventually have the new line for whatever they are going to cost but I figured I would take the $200 chance. Local store doesn't carry high end, and were out of low end supremes.

Could someone clarify this:

I'm looking to go from my old Bauer Supreme 8090's to an NBH One95, which I found on ebay in the same size.

What is the difference in sizing and fit between these models?

Also, over the many years of playing I have rather large bone spurs (at least that's what I've always assumed they were) on my heels, particularly on my left heel. What exactly causes this?

Thanks!

Sounds like you have a Bauer Bump/Haglund's Deformity. They are caused by ill fitting footwear with a specific pressure point on the heel. I knew nothing about this until I bought a pair of Vapor XXV skates. That was almost a year long lesson to stay with Supremes. Supremes have a deeper heel pocket.

I used JR's advice from this post when I got my ONE100's baked. I don't live in a location where I could get my skates punched in a conventional manner. Just make sure to force your heel to 'punch' out the back. Otherwise, the ball of tape will push your foot forward a bit and you will still have ill fitting footwear.

Okay thanks for the info Johnny.

Can anyone answer this though:

I just went through this and it was painful, but I ended up with a better fit then my old Bauer 4000's.

I used to wear a 10 D in 4000's. I wear 11.5 in most shoes and 45.5 (10.9) cycling shoes (tight fit, like skates).

I bought a pair of Vapor X:40's because they were super comfortable and cheap. The 9.5's felt comfortable and I could brush my toes on the front when I reached them forward. After skating in them for about a month they became kinda loose and I really didn't like the way they skated. Can't explain it, just didn't like it (it's been a few months).

I went back in and tried on some One100's and was thinking of getting a pair of One95's because they were $100 less on FleaBay. I put on a size 9 and my toes were right at the front (touching) but as soon as I leaned forward they would pull off the front. After skating in them for a month or so they have broken in and fit perfectly. They are an incredible skate. I feel much more agile in the One100's than the Vapors, but I also paid almost $300 more, so it's tough to compare.

One more bit of advice- buy the skates from the LHS. Other stuff is different, but skates are something that shouldn't be bought online, IMO, unless you are just replacing a pair with the same ones.

Good luck.
