curtstyle24 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 I am just getting back into the sport and was trying on skates and I just notice immediately that the new missions feel good to my feet but rub my ankles bad. I tried on a pair of bauer rx:15s and they felt good initially but do the same. Do the newer skates all rub at first and need break in time? Also I need to buy new ice skates too and I was going to buy a lower end inline to save money for good ice, but is it going to be a huge difference from mission csx to the soldiers? Keep in mind I am still pretty much a beginner since I havent played in years
BucksAway 16 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 i find with lower end skates your ankles drop inwards and you tend ti ride on the inside of your wheels so they constantly need changing and re arrangingI dont no if thats because i havnt devoloped enough ankle strength yet or if the skates just arnt supportive enough for me
curtstyle24 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 ok i guess my dilemma is that which skate is better mission csx or bauer rx15...then the next dilemma is Im wondering if the soldier se's are that much better that i should drop the extra money into them. Being a beginner I guess i could go with a lower end skate but i still want bang for my buck
Chad Seibel 2 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 Curtstyle, I think you are smart in wanting bang for your buck. If you can afford to, I would try to get a little better boot. Your feet will tank you for it and you will perform better. Here are 2 Tour skates that I think would fit the bill. I work for Tour (that is my stock brokers full disclosure thing). The 2 models you could check out are the Tour MX skates and the Tour Code Carbon Pro. The reason I bring these guys up is that we build them to give ou bang for the buck. The MX is a great skate for around $160. Good quality construction with great components. The Carbon Pro has a n actual Carbon quarter panel for $200.If these do not work for you then I would suggest going to $200 for a Bauer or Mission skate. Go to Inlinewarehouse.com to see the skates and video on the specs and features. Then make your decision. Good luck my friend.

Being a beginner I guess i could go with a lower end skate but i still want bang for my buckI have the Mission Soldier SE's and straight out of the box they were very comfortable. I haven't baked them yet but I plan to just to get an even better fit. Other than that I would definitely spend a little extra and get the SE's. Besides the boot being much better and giving you better durability, you get a better chassis, much better wheels especially if you playing indoors and the bearings are a bit better. Just the chassis, wheels and bearing on the SE's are easily over a $100 value so I think its a no brainer to spend the extra $60 to get a much better boot, chassis, wheels and bearings.University of Miami Roller Hockey
curtstyle24 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2010 Well after returning the skates, I did notice that they got a new shipment of tours in and tried them on. They fit great and seem to have a wider boot to them so they fit my feet perfectly. I picked up a pair of the mx's and will be breaking them in today. Thanks for the help guys...although I went completely off course. The local stores dont have a large variety to choose from and are hardly ever in E widths. I would recommend tours for people with wider feet who cant find that comfort they were looking for with other skates.
