Shin Pads

I have had the same shin pads for the last 15 years, and it is time for new ones. I am about 5'8"-5'9", and are having trouble getting a good size. Should the shin pads overlap the skate boot at all? Should they stop before the top of the boot? Please let me know any tips you have for a proper fit. Thanks.
