Nexed skates?

Recommended Posts

hey all i just picked up a used pair of NEXED Skates i believe the model is AWT-M5. The last pair of hockey skates i ever owned was a pair of missions in like 98' and the chassis is way different on these. Any help is appreciated!

I seen that the AWT means AngleWheelTechnology but thats all i could find.

AngleWheelTechnology? Sounds like those old V-Forms to me. I never skated on them myself, but had friends that used them to make the transition from ice to roller smoother. I believe the wheel set-up is all 76's. But this whole thng could be wrong. Could you post a pic of the skates?

blast from the past...well maybe not a blast...

They made a decent boot, and at the time they came with Hyper Trinity wheels (were some of the best back then) But, I dont think the frame was really any good, and im not sure people had and advantage with that frame than any other.

That particular model came with two chassis options, one had a 2 deg angle, and the other had 8 deg. I believe the one you have is the 8 deg, meaning the angle that the wheels are offset. Comes from the Vform design...

Yeah, I don't really have any info for you, never having played on those myself. But it can't hurt to try em out for few games. Maybe you'll love the angled wheels. If you like th boot, but hate the frames, you can always change those later. I'm on the Sprungs bandwagon myself, but you could try a traditional hi/lo or whatever.

Yeah, i just was on them for the second time and i was WAY more used to them this time around, the only complaint in the lack of grip on extremely tight turns. I am only rocking the 3 a side that it came with but i will be getting some new wheels. I'm gonna run 76-80 on them. I'm sure ill get a bit more grip once that is all set.

It's definitely the 8 deg. offset for sure.

you might need 72-80, the 2 deg frames were that way at least. The concept on these frames requires you to have four wheels or tight turns will suck despite it being one of the better attributes of the setup. Good solid boot, I didn't know too many that went with the 8 deg frame though, the 2 deg was much much more common. I did see a couple of 8 deg frames break at weld points after heavy use

there is already 76-80 on it and its ok. I plan to have all 8 wheels for sure, it just came with only the 6. I bought them for $18.00 at PIAS so im not complaining.

Skated today and the boot is really beginning to mold to my foot. In fact, it felt really comfortable and the only pain i felt was on my ankle bone on the outside. But after a few minutes it went away and felt like the boot was an extension of my foot.
