Warrior's Lie

Recommended Posts

So I'm looking for a new stick, but to stick with a similar curve to the Warrior's Fedorov. Only thing is I've heard that the Warrior lie is somewhat different from other brands. I believe the Fedorov is a lie 4, but not 100%. Anyone know for sure if the Warrior lie is different and if it is how does it compare to others?

Yes, they are almost all incorrect and the amount of rocker will impact how far off the lie really is. You can't say that their 5 is always a 4.5 or something like that.

Warrior will always be lower then the rest of the manufacturers, so if it says 4 then its probably more like a 5 in most.

not an exact science, cause measurement of lie will vary with each company, but a general guideline:

warrior lie 4 = bauer lie 5 = easton lie 5 = sherwood lie 5.5

warrior lie 5 = bauer lie 6 = easton lie 5.5 = sherwood lie 6

a warrior federov is a lie 4, a bauer pm9 is a lie 5, an easton zetterberg/forsberg is a lie 5, a sherwood bouchard is a lie 5.5, however they are all the exact same blade pattern with the exact same angle.

Not every warrior 5 is a 6. Some 5s are accurate, other 5s are 6s. As I said before, the amount of rocker will impact how close it is to what it is marked.

Please do not post inaccurate information.

The 5 lie in my draper is very accurate. I like a 6 and that blade is not a 6. It seems Warrior is inconsistent and it sucks for consumers.

to be fair, i did start with a disclaimer "not an exact science, cause measurement of lie will vary with each company, but a general guideline"

we can't disregard information just because we know that lie's are inconsistent and/or difficult to accurately measure. not all lie 5's are lie 5's, but all sakic clones have the same "lie" but a different number.

The issue is with the other part, where you state "Warrior 4 = Bauer 5, etc..." That is absolutely not true as some warrior 5s are accurate, while others are more like a 6 or 7. Each pattern has a different correlation, there is no consistent rule of thumb with their blades.

i agree there is no rule of thumb, however i do think there is a place for a guideline, albeit rough (and perhaps i should make that more obvious in the future).

if you compare the clones, a sakic/backstrom/draper, zetterberg/pm9/savard, drury/stall/kovalev, etc. they have the same lie. there are exceptions but i don't think that should get in the way of an otherwise reasonable comparison.

my question is, which warrior blade are you referring to with inaccurate lie's? i do know warrior makes multiple lie's for many of their blade patterns, like the draper comes in lie 4, 5 and 6; 5 being the equivalent to the easton sakic.

The bigger the rocker the more inaccurate the lie on any warrior blade. If you look in their materials it always shows the heel to the middle of the blade down with the toe in the air. The Robitaille had almost no rocker so the 5 lie was actually a 5 lie. The 5 lie Savard is close to a 5. The 5 lie Draper is 5.5+. The 5 lie Kovalev is 5.5. There is no consistency from one curve to the next, making X=Y=Z factually incorrect. If there was one outlier you could chalk it up to it being odd. The reality is that there is no accurate rule of thumb regarding warrior blades. Unless you want to count the fact that the larger the rocker the less accurate the lie will be.

If there are as many exceptions as adherents, it's not a rough guideline, it's just inaccurate.
