OPS or 2 piece?

Recommended Posts

Just a quick thought, I play roller on sport court. I don't really need an amazing stick, however I have seen a few on closeout.

Which would be better an s17, or an s19/one95 shaft with s15 blade? I am concerned that an s17 wont last too long playing roller? Main priorities are money and performance in that order.

I'd agree with your thought.. that s17 blade isn't going to last too long on sport court. Two piece would be my recommendation.

Definitely go for a OPS. Better performance by far and since your playing on sport court, your blade won't wear down. So an S17 would be a good choice, or at the same price range I have a Bauer One85 and love it.

OPS for the win. Not sure why someone would say the blade wont last long. My 05 stealth was still kicking last week until a slash. Nothing to do with sport court. Concrete is a slightly different matter.

I wasn't concerned with the surface wearing the blade, it was the actual durability of the stick. I hear lots of stories about sticks lasting 3 games etc.

I am tempted by a one95 shaft with s15 blade, as I can always replace the blade. Also I am not sure the benefits of a ops would be applicable to me as I'm not a pro, and they can hit 100mph slapshots with wooden sticks!

If the blade goes on an s17 is it new stick time?

sport court doesnt tear blades up, but i prefer 2 piece since i play against alot of hacks who cant control their sticks and destroy the stick right where the blade meets the shaft.

That's fair. For whatever reason when I first read it, it registered in my head as an outdoor sport court - the ones shared by bball and tennis. That would destroy your blade. Indoor sport court, not so much.

I have always used 2 piece sticks on sport court. I broke more shafts than blades on it though, for that reason I would tell you to go with a 2 piece over a OPS, especially if you're on somewhat of a budget.

Yeah, this is why I'd argue the two-piece is a better option. I go through blades much quicker than shafts. Once the blade goes, it's no good unless you go through all that trouble of cutting it, which seems like a waste when you can just buy a two-piece to begin with.

Go with the two piece. I use an Easton S5 for Ice and Easton two-piece for roller. I like the feel of the one piece sticks (even if it's a woody) for ice, but I definitely prefer a two-piece for roller. There's no sense in spending a good chunk of money on a one-piece that would cost as much as 2 or 3 blades would and last as long as one blade.

I ended up buying the One95 shaft with the S15 blade, once I get to use it I will let you know. Just hope 87 flex is right for me!
