bauer x60 shin guards

Recommended Posts

i've always been a shin guard over the tongue skater. tonight i finally replaced my bauer supreme shin guards from 2002 - the padding had been disentegrating for some time. i bought the x60's at my lhs, and skated in them tonight. the ventilation in them was nice. but...i have skinny ankles and it still seemed the shin guards were too skinny to go over tongue. i like long shin guards so these are too long to simply put under the tongue. are they meant for under the tongue? maybe i should have went with the supreme line again or should i try to 'mold' the curvature of the shin pad so it will fit better?

thanks

I used to wear my shins under the tongue and found they fit much better when I went down to a 14 inch pad as opposed to the 15 inch I was supposed to wear. It didn't effect my level of protection and the shin guards didn't push up with the 14 inch pads and press my knee covers off center. I found the pads that are skinnier at the bottom actually worked better for me when I wore them under the tongue but that is for me, personally. Now that I wear them over my tongues I use the pads wider at the bottom. (ie Reeboks, CCM, Missions )
