holder help

Recommended Posts

So I've had these Mission Fuel AGX skates for a few years now and I love them. The other day at stick and puck my steel broke, never had that happen to me before but I've also never kept a pair of skates this long. I can't find mission steel anywhere and the only place i can find replacement sets of pitch 3 holders is ebay for $120. Looking around, I can find tuuk lighstpeed pros for half of that. My question is If the bolt pattern would be the same, and if not, what holders am I looking at that would be compatible? Sorry if this is a newb question but I've never had to deal with changing holders before. Is it something most LHS could do for me? Thanks

Lightspeed pro is going to be injected steel, so if u break one you will need to replace both to keep height correct.

The hole patterns aren't the same.

If the skate is worth keeping for another five years, buy lightspeed2 holder and ls2 steel should be about 120 for both of those, and have them installed, most lhs should be able to do it.

Cheapest and easiest solution is to find mission steel

Similar situation for my 10yrold Mission AmpFlys. I felt that the height of the steel was too low for me, so I looked everywhere for some replacement steel. raganblink is right in regards to his 2 solutions, but I really doubt you'd be able to find Mission steel at this time. Perhaps you should look at buying new skates? It's what I did

What size holder do you have?

No idea off the top of my head. I actually don't even remember what size the skates are (I'm at school using an old pair of skates now and left the problem skates at home). Sad, I know, pretty sure theyre 11's and the holders 296 maybe? I'm heading home tomorrow so I'll know for sure then. I'm actually a little embarrassed that I can't even remember what size skates I wear.

I'll probably end up buying new skates eventually, I just can't see spending a couple hundred bucks on skates when I'm only playing stick and puck here. Probably over the summer I'll bite the bullet and try to find some of last years models on closeout. Unless somebody has a lead on Mission steel or Tuuk custom plus holders (which wouldn't require redrilling I think?)
