Recommended Posts

I was wondering if someone could explain the different degrees of flex for sticks from warrior, easton and bauer. How can i know the flex i choose is the right one. Any help is appreciated.

The bottom line is that it's really up to you what flex you feel comfortable using.

Some feel that the general rule of thumb of using a flex that is half your body weight is the best way to go. So if you weigh 200lbs, then an appropriate flex would be 100. However, if you have to cut down the stick by a few inches, then the 100 flex gets even a bit more stiff.

However, you'll see posts and meet other players that may use flexes that definitely break the "rule of thumb" regarding flexes. Players like Brett Hull or Ovechkin would use sticks that were well below half their body weight. Then you'll see other guys that weigh 150lbs that are using flexes that are like 100 flex.

I would say the thing to keep in mind is that be mindful of how much you are planning on cutting your stick since it can greatly increase the original flex of the stick.

Hope this helps and good luck with your stick search.
