Painting Tuuk Light Speeds

I am thinking about painting my Tuuk Light Speeds a wacky color, like Dany Heatley's Neon Tuuks. I am not a painter, and I don't think it would be that hard to do. So I need to know some stuff:

1) What type of paint should I use?

2) What are the risks? Like, if I get paint on the blade or the boot is it gonna screw the skate?

3) I could probably avoid getting paint on unwanted areas with that painter's tape eh? (See, I told you I know nothing about painting.)

Has anyone on here painted their tuuks before?

Removing it from the boot and taping the blades would be the best way. If you don't want to do that, use painters tape on the bottom of the boot and then wrap the boot in newspaper but make sure to tape down the paper everywhere to keep out overspray. You can never paper or tape too much.

They make spray paint for plastics now, I would think that would work best here.

I know a guy who has Neon Tuuk like Dany Heatley and it's very ugly...

If you want to put a color, I would suggest to put your holder black, but it's your choice.

Vinyl dye should work well, too. It won't scratch like paint. Be sure that the holders are clean and as puck mark free as possible.

Might wanna sand them with a ver fine peper first.

1)vinyl should work like Deke said

2)if u get paint on the blade on the bottom that touches the ice, your not going to be able to skate well. the other risk is being the kid with a crazy color holder....bad move if u play kids like me!

3)painters tape would be ur best shot....taking the holder off the skate would be safer to paint.

Are your holders white or black?
