Cutting wrist extension on 8K Pro Elbow

Recommended Posts

I know some of you guys did it, how did it turned out? How you did it? And long term results, does the elbow fall apart? I remember seeing that on the forum but can't seem to find it back. Pictures would be helpfull.

I hacked off mine but saved the blue binding material. Not being a real DIY'er I shipped em out to Peaches. He did an awesome job. I also had him shorten the bicep strap on each pad for a tighter fit. For me, it was worth the $30. Very happy with the results.

the wrist part is an extension in itself , just cut before the stitching

This is exactly what I did! Use a pair of sewing scissors. It is well worth it. Just did it to my Jofa's and it made all the difference in the world.

I bought a speedy stitcher from amazon (http://www.speedystitcher.com/main.html) used some kitchen shears to cut off the extension and then sewed the piping back on with the speedy stitcher. Looks good to me, and cost me about $10 and 30mins of time. I'm sure Peaches (or someone else) could do a much cleaner job... but for more $'s and time.

Do you have to do some touch up and stiching or if you cut in the right place you should be good without damage?

I've done this, too. As far as cutting goes, you'd have to have wildly poor dexterity to mess it up. If you care about preserving the blue binding, just go slowly and carefully and you'll be fine. I did mine with no plans to sew up the binding and it looked just fine. The exposed foam never frayed or broke down. I actually kind of preferred the DIY-look it gave them.

Here's what someone else did: My link

...just cut off the extension and left it as is. You can see that if you cut in front of the transitional piping, everything stays together. I went a step further and removed the piping from the extension I cut off and restitched it back overtop that transitional piping (like the pics in this thread)... gives it a cleaner look.
