tackla pants pro 8800 vs tackla pro 5000x vs pro 9000 air

Recommended Posts

hello everyone, im in the market for new hockey pants. seem to be leaning towards tackla.

want to get tackla top of the line pant.

narrowed down to 3 models:

pro 8800

pro 9000 air

pro 5000x

all seem very similar, is there anyone out there that knows key differences between the 3?

someone that can review them and explain their advantages and disadvantages between each other?

and give a protection comparison between the 3, like tail bone protection, back and front?

all of these models seem to have been around for a while, so there should be someone out there that's intimately familiar with all 3.

thanks in advance

This was really discuessed quite often...use the search field on top^^ ...but ok,

9000 vs 5000x

...just for confusion: what about the new Tackla Air 1051??

Tackla 2012

I am curious myself, they look like a modified 'US Air 9000'.

Got Tacklas (...I love them!..) this year in Europe from Tackla, not Montreal, the numbering is different...The pants 'Tackla' sells are also made in Thailand...but the 9000 had the segmented back padding and the 2piece pants were the same 9000, just seperated in upper and lower.

As far as Tackla pants go I don;t think you can go wrong with any of these three. Higher end Tackla pants are some of the best out there in the entire world. I have the Canadian made Air 5000's and haven't found any domestic pants that are any better than these. Granted high end North American pants have more heavy duty padding but then you sacrifice a heavier weight pant. I think Tackla has got it perfect when you take weight and protection balance in account. In my opinion the 5000 is good enough for any level right up to pro level but if you like a little additional protective the 9000 is also a great consideration. IMHO.

Looking for someone who can compare the 3. I know all of them are great pants, but would like specific difference and fit and protection parameters
