SCATMAN

1st Inline tourney after 7 year break

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Im playing an inline tourney in a few weeks (1st time ive played inline in 7 years!) and anyway, Ive pulled my old Mission RTx's out and the wheels look crusty haha. What wheels should I get to replace them? (previously Rink Rat Hornets, XX-Soft) also whats the go with micro bearings? if i get a set of wheels with micro bearings do i need to get new (6mm) spacers for the Vibe-2 chassis?

Skill level - Advanced/State

Height/weight - 6'1 @ 240 lbs

Thanks in advance guys

Did you check to see if the skates are actually still usable? No point getting 72-72-80-80 wheels and then finding out the boots crap themselves.

You might want to consider buying new skates, especially at that skill level.

Yeah I put them on about half an hour ago and had a skate in the carpark. Boots are in good condition and still very comfy. There is a TINY bit of movement where the chassis connects to the boot at the heel's though.. Same amount of movement on both skates. I have to really try to pressure the chassis to get it to move a about a mm though so i was thinking it would hold up for 10 games.

Im leaning towards just getting some wheels instead of new skates but if i did get some new ones id be looking at the Baure RX25's and the Rbk 8k's..

8ks are known for bad durabilty. The fit is also slightly different from the bauers, I would say slightly wider, flatter arch, and slightly shallower boot. Although, I haven't heard many good things about rx:25s either. My boot stayed strong, but my chassis bent in about 8 months of intermediate/ advanced skating 3 times a week.

The RX:25's are a very solid boot, exceptional for the price actually. But the chassis is fairly average, the Mission Aluminum Vanguard set up. As good as you will get for anything under $300. To get something better, you would have to go for the top of the line RX:60's which has a Magnesium chassis.

One of my friends just told me that his rx:25s outsole is craccking near the rivets of his chassis. Honestly, Im not very impressed with the Bauer line. My Mission boss blacks that I picked up haven't shown any signs of breaking down and i've had them as long as I had my Bauers and almost as long as my friend had his. Although the Bauers have the closest fit to what the OP was skating before, so he may be stuck with them.
